Troupe

There are seven different troupes starting from Under 5 and finishing at Open Age. During the class students learn a variety of routines classical, jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, contemporary, character and national. Students must be enrolled in jazz, classical and tap to attend as they cover all facets of dance during the class (excluding students enrolled in Under 5 and Under 6). Attending troupe class requires full commitment and attendance to ensure students are fully prepared for the competitions and concert. There are also extra rehearsals on the last four Sundays leading up to the competitions that are compulsory.

Under 5 (age 3 to 4) Under 6 (age 5 to 6)
The under 5 is the first class children can attend on a Saturday morning at 9:30 am. In the class students basic steps. combinations and a final routine that they perform at the end of year concert in December. Students in the Under 6 class are introduced to tap and learn two full routines (Tap and Song and Dance) both are performed at the SASDS competitions held in the Sept/Oct holidays. At the end of the year the Under 6 troupe perform one of the routines in the end of year concert.

Under 8 (Age 6 to 8)
Once students reach under 8 they learn three to four routines during troupe class; Jazz, Song and Dance, Character and Tap which they perform in the SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and end of year concert in December. They must also attend one ballet class per week, Pre-Primary or Primary Ballet. After their second year in under 8 students must also attend one tap class and one jazz class per week, to ensure their technique is supported and they are extending their knowledge and understanding of all facets of dance. They begin at Elementary Bronze Tap and Pre-Modern Jazz.

Under 10 (Age 8 to 10)
At this level students must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two ballet classes a week, one jazz class and one tap class. During this class students learn 6 routines; Jazz, Tap, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical and Character. All routines are performed at the SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.

Under 12 (Age 10 to 12) and Under 15 (Age 12 to 15)
Students attending Under 12 and Under 15 must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two or more ballet classes a week, one jazz class, one tap class, one stretch class and possibly one pointe class. During this class students learn 8 to 9 routines; Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Contemporary, Character and National. All routines are performed at SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.

Open Age (Age 15 +)
Students range from 15 and above and are at an advanced level attending two or more ballet classes, pointe class, stretch class, jazz class and tap class. During this class students learn 9 routines, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Character, Contemporary and National. All routines are performed at the SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed at the end of year concert in December.
