Troupe

There are seven different troupes starting from Under 5 and finishing at Open Age. During the class students learn a variety of routines classical, jazz, tap, musical theatre, hip hop, contemporary, character and national. Students must be enrolled in jazz, classical and tap to attend as they cover all facets of dance during the class (excluding students enrolled in Under 5 and Under 6). Attending troupe class requires full commitment and attendance to ensure students are fully prepared for the competitions and concert. There are also extra rehearsals on the last four Sundays leading up to the competitions that are compulsory.

Little Stars (age 3 to 4) 

The Little Stars is the first class children can attend on a Saturday morning In the class students learn basic steps. combinations and a final routine that they perform at the end of year concert in December. 

 

6 & Under (age 5 to 6)
Students in the 6 & Under class are introduced to jazz, song and dance, and tap and learn three full routines (Jazz, Song and Dance & Tap) all three are performed at the SASDS competitions held in the Sept/Oct holidays. It is recommedned this class also attends one ballet class. At the end of the year the  6 & Under troupe perform one of the routines in the end of year concert.

8 & Under (Age 6 to 8)
Once students reach 8 & under they learn four to five routines during troupe class; Jazz, Song and Dance, Character, Lyrical and Tap which they perform in the SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and end of year concert in December. They must also attend one to two ballet classes per week,, one tap class and one jazz class per week, to ensure their technique is supported and they are extending their knowledge and understanding of all facets of dance. They begin at Preliminary to Tap Level 1 and Pre-Modern Jazz.

 

10 & Under (Age 8 to 10)
At this level students must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two ballet classes a week, one jazz class and one tap class. During this class students learn 7 routines; Jazz, Tap, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Character. and Contemporary and/or Lyrical All routines are performed at the SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.

12 & Under (Age 10 to 12) and Under 15 (Age 12 to 15)
Students attending 12 & Under must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two or more ballet classes a week, one jazz class, one tap class,. During this class students learn 8 to 9 routines; Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Lyrical, Contemporary and Character. All routines are performed at SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.

 

15 & Under (Age 12 to 15)

Students attending 15 & Under must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two or more ballet classes a week, one jazz class, one tap class,. During this class students learn 8 to 9 routines; Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Lyrical, Contemporary and Character. All routines are performed at SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.

Open Age (Age 16 +)
Students attending 15 & Under must be enrolled in the full curriculum attending two or more ballet classes a week, one jazz class, one tap class,. During this class students learn 8 to 9 routines; Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Song and Dance, Song and Tap, Classical, Lyrical, Contemporary, Character. and National All routines are performed at SASDS competitions in the Sept/Oct holidays and selected items are performed in the end of year concert in December.
